Mount Savage, Maryland
Mount Savage, Maryland, is located at the base of Big Savage Mountain in Allegany County. This rustic town now shows hints of the economic boon that struck it back in the 1800's as a leading manufacturer of railroad rails and, later, bricks.
There are many vistas that overlook this town that would serve as great shots for filmmakers. In addition, there are several vacant storefronts (some rather large) on the town's Main Street, as well as an interesting old bank and small town jail. Most of the homes sit up on the surrounding hills. A river runs right through the center of town. And an interesting characteristic of the town is its lack of sidewalks on its Main Street.
It offers old-world charm and would be great to capture on film.
